A brilliantly white smile is always considered more attractive than teeth that are yellowish in color. Often, proper diet and tooth care are not enough, and genetics or age start to catch up with us – our teeth begin to yellow. While there are a few opponents of teeth whitening, deep down, even they want to be beautiful. At our dental clinic, Alexia Creative, we understand your needs and dream of having a beautiful set of teeth. We emphasize not only functionality but also high aesthetics, which is why we recommend professional and at-home teeth whitening.

For 15 years, we used the Beyond system for teeth whitening, with very good results. However, trends in teeth whitening are advancing rapidly, and due to the continuously growing demand for quality and high aesthetics, we started using the globally renowned top teeth whitening system – PHILIPS ZOOM – in 2020. Before we begin, let's read something about teeth whitening.

Facts about teeth whitening:

  1. Whitening and cleaning teeth are not the same. There are deposits and superficial stains on our teeth that cause them to appear more yellow. Cleaning alone does not remove this discoloration since it is also present in deeper structures of the tooth.

  2. Teeth whitening is a chemical process. Teeth whitening involves a chemical reaction using various compounds and hydrogen peroxide. These substances, when in contact with the tooth surface, activate and release oxygen-free radicals that penetrate the outer layer of the tooth. Through the oxidation of color, a whiter surface is achieved. This treatment can be done at the dentist's office or at home using specifically designed products. It is important to use proven whitening products since it involves a chemical intervention in the body. PHILIPS ZOOM is a globally renowned and recommended brand by experts and millions of people worldwide.

  3. Whitening duration may vary. The duration of the whitening treatment can vary depending on the technique used (at the dentist's office or at home). If you choose to whiten your teeth at the dentist's office, they will determine the length and number of sessions based on the analysis of your dental condition. If you whiten your teeth at home, we also recommend assessing the condition and nature of your teeth and selecting the appropriate product accordingly.

  4. Whitening is not permanent. Teeth whitening is not a permanent treatment, and its results typically last from one to three years. By maintaining a proper diet, avoiding smoking, practicing good oral hygiene with a sonic toothbrush, and using enamel-strengthening products, you can prolong the duration of the whitening effects.

  5. Certain limitations are important. When undergoing teeth whitening, it is necessary to follow certain rules to achieve the desired results. It is important to reduce the consumption of foods and beverages that can stain the teeth (such as tea, coffee, red wine, and sugary drinks). It is also important to limit smoking and tobacco chewing.

  6. Follow the prescribed procedure. If you have your teeth whitened at the dentist's office, the responsibility lies with them. However, if you whiten your teeth at home, make sure to follow the instructions carefully to avoid any side effects. It is a chemical reaction that, when done correctly, is safe. Tooth sensitivity is a common side effect of whitening, but it does not harm your teeth or overall oral health.

  7. Professional teeth whitening is not suitable for everyone. Teeth whitening may not be suitable for you if:

  • You are a child or adolescent.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have teeth with cavities, gum disease, excessively exposed tooth roots, or extreme sensitivity.
  • You have visible fillings (dental restorations) on the front teeth (whitening is possible, but the active ingredients in whitening agents do not whiten artificial teeth or fillings, resulting in a contrast in color between the teeth and the filling).
  • You are allergic to peroxides.
  1. Not all tooth discolorations can be whitened. Tetracycline, an antibiotic found in certain medications, can cause a gray discoloration of the teeth that cannot be whitened.
