What is Endodontics?

Endodontics is the treatment of root canals and dental pulp with the aim of removing the cause of inflamed teeth. Endodontic treatment is usually the only option to save a tooth from extraction and prevents the spread of infections from an infected tooth into the body.

What is dental pulp?

Dental pulp is a bundle of blood vessels and nerves located inside the root canals of each tooth.

How does inflammation of dental pulp occur?

The most common cause of dental pulp inflammation is tooth decay. Acute tooth pain is the first indicator of inflammation. If a patient does not seek medical treatment at this stage, acute inflammation can progress to chronic inflammation, leading to the death of dental pulp. Such a tooth may end up with swelling and extraction. Untreated and unaddressed inflammation further spreads, and bacteria from the tooth enter the bloodstream and other parts of the body .

What is the use of a microscope in a dental clinic ?

An operative dental microscope is used for its high optical magnification, excellent overview, and precision in work. It provides magnification and access to areas that are invisible to the naked eye, along with perfect illumination of the working field.

Working with a microscope allows dental clinics to push the boundaries of treatment, enabling the rescue of seemingly untreatable teeth. It also improves the prognosis of root canal treatment and thereby enhances the tooth's longevity in the oral cavity.
